Belts are one of the most underrated tools in a retailer’s styling toolkit. While most people think of them as just functional pieces to hold up pants, the truth is, they’re outfit transformers.

 

A belt can instantly give shape to a flowy dress, add a pop of color to a neutral outfit, or break up a bold print that might otherwise overwhelm the body. Belts also elevate even the simplest looks and help your customer see herself styled, confident, and put together.

So next time you’re dressing mannequins or working with a customer, ask yourself:
Could this outfit use a pop? A shape? A cinch?

  • Always show full looks on mannequins, not just pieces. Customers need to see how an item can be styled from head to toe.

  • Keep belts near the fitting room so your sales team can easily add one to an outfit and show the instant transformation.
